Len & Kathy’s Trip to China

What a rich experience! We just returned from 18 days in China touring Tibet and Inner Mongolia along with the big cities of Beijing and Shanghai. Such a country of contrasts-old and new, progressive and repressive. We saw giant skyscrapers in downtown Shanghai that are more dynamic in their architecture than most in our own big cities. In Beijing alone we saw over 200 active construction cranes at work. On some of the smaller sites they were using scaffolding made of bamboo! Then in Lhasa, Tibet (at 12,000 feet-whew!) we saw workers mixing concrete on-site in a small portable mechanized mixer that we haven’t seen used in this country for a generation. Just outside Lhasa I took a cab to a farming area for pictures of their grain harvesting operation. I shot a smiling family while they used hand sickles to cut and then hand-stack the barley into shocks. As further contrast, just 2 miles down the road was a tiny 30 horsepower tractor with a mini-sized combine attached to it. The photo on this page is the Potala Palace, the former 999-room home of the Dalai Lama who is now in exile out of the country since the communist Chinese have taken control again over tiny Tibet in recent years and squelched some aspects of the Buddhist religion.

Green Bay Showcase of Homes

Look for our 2 Showcase Homes in Green Bay this month. One home was purchased during the early stages of construction, so the new homeowners were able to make all selections of flooring, countertops, cabinetry and exterior. They also added a sauna, wine cellar and custom slate? fireplace in the finished basement. At 5,028 sq. ft., this custom home fits beautifully in wooded Sheltered Creek, the latest phase of Muirwood Manor. Our new 5,301 sq. ft. Huntington model next door will also be open for viewing during the Showcase.

Our new 5,614 sq. ft. Savannah model is our second Showcase Home located in Thornberry Creek Estates. This home features red birch hardwood floors, custom Valley Cabinets, and granite countertops in the kitchen, a 2-story family room with second floor balcony and wall of windows, and a sitting area with fireplace in the master suite.

Where To Build

We are very excited to introduce Barnard Woods, located adjacent to Thornberry Creek Estates in Green Bay. Andrew Homes has five wooded ½ acre lots here, a number of which offer exposed basement window potential. I drove through the area a few weeks ago and was amazed at the solitude and quiet, as though I was in Wisconsin’s North Woods. It is a fantastic area. At Muirwood Manor, we have 1 wooded, ravine lot left and 2 more wooded lots. In nearby Sheltered Creek, we have 4 wooded lots available.

We have five wooded and two non-wooded lots in the new Breaker Ridge subdivision located in the Town of Clayton. All lots are over an acre in size and are located in the Neenah School District. Give us a call! We would love to show you this area. We also have 3 lots left in Bentwood Estates in Grand Chute and 2 lots in Marshall Heights.

In Fond du Lac, we have a beautiful wooded lot offering views of Whispering Springs Golf Course. We also have 2 cul-du-sac lots available on the golf course itself.

Looking for waterfront land? We have a fantastic .89 acre lot located in Harbor Village, just 3 miles northwest of Oshkosh on the south shore of Lake Butte des Morts. Also in Oshkosh, we have one wooded lot on Leonard Point Rd., and another wooded lot in Woodland Creek. In North Shore Preserve, we have 2 beautiful lots with views of Lake Butte des Morts’ northern shore and a natural preserve.

New Additions to Website

If you haven’t visited www.AndrewHomes.com recently, check it out! We have added a Photo Gallery featuring over 50 photographs of our custom and model homes. This is a great place to get ideas and view many unique features built into our custom homes. We have also added a quick-reference Model Homes For Sale page that allows you to quickly and easily browse currently available model homes from Fond du Lac to Green Bay.

10-Year Warranty

For over 15 years Andrew Homes has had an outstanding reputation for standing behind our workmanship. In fact, we feel that each home we build is ours forever. As a result, we have always been very generous in working with first or even second owners of our homes to remedy problems that have occurred after their original Andrew Homes 1-year warranty has expired. We are now taking this attitude one step further by offering a 10-year limited structural warranty on future Andrew Homes.
